Gems are separate from Cash

Your roll result and base boards primarily use Cash. A Mutation Core is a Gem purchase. Do not compare a 1,300 Cash Crossfire price to a core’s Gem price as if they share a currency. Mutation or fusion?

A mutation applies a modifier to a chosen robot. Fusion uses four robots of the same type after reaching island two. A random roll may also display a mutated robot. Compare its displayed DPS with your existing robot at the same upgrade conditions before you pay.

For a first base, make Cash reliably before putting your Gem budget into modifiers. If you are replacing that army member soon, first decide which robot you want to keep. The robot list and upgrade boards provide the surrounding choices.

The material supplies their acquisition path and effect, but not an equal-level test that orders these three from strongest to weakest.
